The interest and controversy over Ramayana and its mythological characters is unending and days after Nepal PM KP Oli claimed real Ayodhya was in Nepal, Sri Lanka has come up with theory of its own.

The country's government believes that Ravana, the erstwhile king of the island, was an aviation pioneer and the first to fly an aircraft. The Lankan government has now asked people to help them by sharing any document or book they may have on him so that a detailed research can be conducted. The initiative to study his aviation methods has been launched by the country's Civil Aviation Ministry. The island nation last year also launched a satellite called 'Raavana'.

According to the popular mythology, Ravana had a flying chariot called the 'Pushpak Viman', he used to that to fly from Lanka to India and abduct Sita.
