A LEGO brick may survive in the ocean for as long as 1300 years, according to a new study by the Univeristy of Plymouth. This may pose a major threat to the marine life and the environment. For the study, researchers analysed bricks that had come ashore on the coastline of southwest England. The study concluded that LEGO bricks could live in the oceans for anywhere between 100 and 1300 years. The extent of the durability shocked researchers, who emphasised on the importance of disposing off the items properly.
