As monsoons hit, ants look for cold spaces, hijacking our homes and places like kitchen and washroom. If you are irritated by these tiny troublemakers causing havoc at your home and damaging food items, here are some easy tips to keep them away.

Home remedies to make your house an ant-free zone

  • Chalks contain calcium carbonate, which helps to keep ants away. Spray some chalk powder at the entry points of ants or draw a line with it.
  • Squeeze lemon juice or place some lemon peels at places ants enter from. You can also wipe the floor with lemon water as ants don't like the smell of lemon.
  • Ants love sugar but hate pepper. So, sprinkle some pepper at the affected areas of your house.
  • Prepare a solution of white vinegar, water and add some essential oils to it. Sprinkle this solution daily at the points ants enter from.
  • Peppermint is an insect repellent as it has a strong fragrance which ants cannot tolerate. Sprinkle it twice a day at places where ants might attack.
  • Table salt is the best and the cheapest way to get rid of ants naturally. All you need to do is boil water and add a large amount of salt to it. Then spray it wherever needed.
