During and post the pandemic, masks have become a part of our lives and sometimes it gets difficult even for adults to recognise an acquaintance at a public place. But a recent study has revealed that babies remember faces inspite of masks.
The study was done by researchers at University of California and it was found that 6 to 9 months old babies memorise masked faces and recognise them even when they see them without masks.
58 babies were made to sit on laps or high chairs and were shown masked and unmasked faces on computer screens. Cameras recorded their reactions from which the team could derive which faces they recognised and which ones they didn’t.
