A viral hack using coffee grounds is doing rounds on the internet with a claim that it can repel mosquitoes. All you need to do is burn some coffee grounds or powder and the burnt coffee aroma can keep the mosquitoes away.
Apparently mosquitoes hate the strong smell of coffee and stay away from the fumes coming out of it. This hack is eco friendly and also non-toxic.
Those who tried this hack claimed that the smoke emitted when coffee grounds are burned possesses the ability to effectively repel other insects too.
Before you go for your fancy coffee beans, let us tell you that any kind of coffee will do. Mosquitoes don't like coffee smell, so even the cheap ones will work equally well.
Make sure the coffee grounds/powder are completely dry before lighting them up. Spread them out a bit on something that won't catch fire, like a metal dish.
Then, add a little bit of lighter fluid, but not too much – you don't want it to burn too quickly. The goal is to make it last as long as possible to keep the mosquitoes away.
