Keeping sustainability in mind, King Charles III will wear clothes that have been in the generation since the 1820s. The Buckingham Palace has reported that the monarch will wear clothes worn by his predecessors for the coronation ceremony to be held on May 6.
Some of them are gloves with gold embroidery which were made for George VI’s 1937 coronation.
Charles will also wear his grandfather’s ‘Colobium Sindonis’, a white linen shift-like tunic. He will also don the full-sleeved coat of gold silk, worn by his great-grandfather King George V, and later by other monarchs including Queen Elizabeth.
