Met Gala 2024: Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee creates history, becomes first to walk red carpet

Global fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has made history by becoming the first Indian designer to grace the prestigious Met Gala red carpet. The designer donned an embroidered cotton duster coat from the Sabyasachi Resort 2024 collection, he layered his ensemble with tourmalines, pearls, emeralds and diamonds from Sabyasachi High Jewellery.

He styled his look with tinted sunglasses and brown loafers with sophistication and style. As he shared the pictures on Instagram, fans applauded him for his groundbreaking moment on the carpet.

Sabyasachi shared a video of himself posing for photographers on the Met Gala carpet on his official Instagram account. Furthermore, he showcased some breathtaking poses while wandering the streets of New York City.

Aside from attending the Met Gala 2024, Sabyasachi took on the task of designing a stunning saree for Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt. She mentioned that the saree was crafted by 163 artisans over 1,965 hours. Alia looked absolutely gorgeous in the floral saree, which impeccably matched the event's theme, 'The Garden of Time'.
