5 food items popular in India are banned in other countries. Know which ones

India is known for its diversity and food holds a special place in every Indian's heart. But there are some food items which are widely consumed in India but are banned in some other countries. Here's the list.

List of food items banned in some countries outside India

Ghee - Ghee is banned in the United States as the Food and Drug Administration believes it may cause heart attack, blood pressure issues and obesity.

Samosa - We Indians love samosa but in Somalia, South Africa it is banned due to its triangular shape that's a symbol of Christianity to the AI-Shabaab group.

Chyawanprash - Chyawanprash was banned by Canada in 2005. Reportedly, the ban was invoked citing that there are high levels of lead and mercury in the product. 

Ketchup - The French government put a ban on ketchup due to its excessive consumption among teenagers.

Chewing Gum - Singapore is known for its cleanliness and has restricted chewing gums so that people can't throw or stick them anywhere.
