South Indians love their share of ghee rice. It is the perfect comfort food great for lunch or dinner. Ghee rice is a traditional Indian dish made by cooking rice with ghee and spices. It's a simple yet flavorful recipe where long-grain rice is typically used and is often garnished with fried onions. 

However, recently, a social media influencer gave ghee rice a surprising twist! Read on.

How to make blue ghee rice

To make this viral rice, you need butterfly pea flower - 20 pcs, ghee - 2 tbsp, khada masala, salt - 1 tbsp, basmati rice - 1 cup, water - 3 cups, cashew - 10 pcs, raisins - 10 pcs, chopped Onions - 1 cup, bay leaf - 2 pcs.

Start by boiling the flowers in water. Boil rice in the same water and let it absorb the blue colour. Once done, add ghee and keep aside. Next saute some ghee, chopped onion, cashews, raisins and bay leaves. Mix the tempering and the rice together, give it a good mix and serve hot.
