Mushy rice can be a kitchen mishap that leaves us feeling disappointed. However, there's no need to despair when you find yourself with a pot of overcooked or soggy rice. This simple trick can save your meal and turn mushy rice into a fluffy delight. Follow these steps to bring your rice back to its perfect texture.

Start by assessing the degree of mushiness in your rice. If it's slightly overcooked but still salvageable, this method will work wonders. If your rice is completely mushy, you might not achieve perfect results, but it's worth a try.

Leave the rice in the pot or pan it was cooked in. Don't remove it from the heat source just yet.

Take a piece of bread (white bread or whole wheat will work) and gently place it on top of the mushy rice. The bread will act as a sponge, absorbing excess moisture from the rice.

Now, you need to put the lid back on, ensuring it's tightly sealed. This step is crucial as it creates a steamy environment that helps the bread do its job effectively.

Allow the bread to work its magic for about 5 to 10 minutes on low heat. During this time, the bread will absorb the excess moisture from the rice, helping it to restore its texture.

After patiently waiting, carefully lift the soggy bread from the rice. You'll notice that the bread has become quite damp.

Once you've removed the bread, use a fork to gently fluff the rice. The grains should now be less soggy and closer to their desired consistency. Your rice is ready to be served!
