Holi is all about meeting friends and family, having delicious sweets and enjoying the festival of colours. This holi if you are planning to make some delicious thandai, here is an easy peasy recipe that will surely make your mouth water. While you can easily buy thandai mix from the store, this recipe is fresh, homemade and will make your thandai tastier!

How to make thandai mix at home

Thandai is a milk based drink that is perfect for Holi and other festivals like Mahashivratri. It is made using a special mixture of seeds, flowers and nuts. Some even add bhang (edible part of cannabis) to the drink.

To make this mix you need cashews, almonds, poppy seeds, saffron, fennel seeds, melon seeds, cardamom pods and rose buds. Grind the ingredients to a fine powder. Make sure to dry roast the ingredients before grinding it as it increases the flavour.

To make the thandai, heat 2 cups of milk in a pan till hot. Add in 2 teaspoon sugar and 2 tablespoons of thandai masala. Mix well and serve warm or cold.  

When is Holi 2024?

Holi is being celebrated on March 25, 2024. One of the most iconic rituals of Holi is the'Holika Dahan' which will take place on March 24 in most parts of the country. This bonfire symbolizes the victory of good over evil, commemorating the legend of Prahlad and Holika from Hindu mythology.
