International Hummus Day 2024: Indulge in healthy homemade hummus with this super easy recipe

Love hummus? Here's the classic and the easiest recipe you can try at home.
Hummus, a beloved Middle Eastern dip, has transcended borders to become a global culinary sensation. Made from humble ingredients like chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil, hummus offers a harmonious blend of flavours and textures. Its creamy consistency, accented by hints of nuttiness and tanginess, makes it a versatile addition to any meal.

Ingredients

Chickpeas -1 cup (overnight soaked)
- Salt - as per taste
- water as required
- garlic: 7-8
- jeera powder-1 tsp
- juice of half lemon
- tahini sauce ( ground sesamee seeds+ salt + olive oil until creamy texture)
- olive oil: 2-3 tbsp
- paprika powder to garnish
- coriander leaves to garnish 

Recipe for hummus

  • In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, minced garlic, olive oil, cumin, and a pinch of salt.
  • Process until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed to ensure all ingredients are well combined.
  • If the hummus is too thick, gradually add 2 to 3 tablespoons of water while the food processor is running until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more salt or lemon juice if desired.
  • Once the hummus reaches the desired consistency and taste, transfer it to a serving bowl.
  • Drizzle a little bit of olive oil on top and sprinkle with paprika, chopped parsley, or sesame seeds for garnish, if desired.
  • Serve the hummus with pita bread, crackers, or vegetable sticks for dipping.
