Malaika Arora's homemade khichdi recipe is the best option for a post festival detox and weight loss

Recently she happened to share the recipe of her favourite khichdi which is great for weight loss. Take a note right away.

Ingredients needed:

  • 1 cup rice
  • Half cup moong dal
  • Half cup masoor dal
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • Seasonal vegetables of your choice
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder (optional)
  • 1-2 green chillies (as per taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon hing 
  • Few cumin seeds (jeera)
  • Salt to taste

Step by step recipe for Malaika's favourite khichdi

Heat oil in a pressure cooker and put jeera and ginger-garlic paste in it and saute. 

Add onion, tomato, haldi and saute some more for about 30 seconds.

Add veggies like carrots, beans, cauliflower, salt, chillies and cook for 5 minutes.

Add washed rice, both the dal and 1.5 cups of water into the cooker and close the lid. Pressure cook for 3-5 whistles.

Season the khichdi with ghee, jeera and hing on top and mix well.

Serve hot and enjoy.
