Recently Shah Rukh Khan suffered severe dehydration and heatstroke and was hospitalised in Ahmedabad. The actor was attending an IPL match that his team Kolkata Knight Riders was playing.

What causes dehydration, a common health issue during summers

Dehydration is a common health issue during this scorching heat and some foods and drinks reduce water absorption in the body causing dehydration. Therefore, it's better to avoid eating salty snacks, processed meats, caffeinated drinks, alcoholic beverages, fried foods, sugary snacks, pickles, fermented foods, baked goods, and spicy foods. During summer everyone should be more cautious about what they eat and drink to stay healthy.

Sugary Snacks: Candy and pastries cause spikes in blood sugar, leading to increased thirst and dehydration.

Pickles and Fermented Foods: These are high in sodium and can cause the body to lose water.

Bread: Breads, especially white bread, are low in water content and can leave you feeling thirsty.

Spicy Foods: Spicy dishes raise body temperature and increase perspiration, leading to fluid loss.
