Recent findings have revealed the negative impact of coconut milk on metabolism due to its high fat content, suggesting that it could lead to a slowdown. However, nutritionist Amanda Sauceda contradicted this claim.
According to Sauceda, the assertion that coconut milk adversely affects metabolism is not accurate. While coconut milk does contain a higher fat content, which contributes to increased calorie intake, it doesn't necessarily translate to negative effects on metabolism.
Sauceda highlighted that metabolic slowdown is more likely to occur when there's chronic under-eating.
In terms of nutritional content, a cup of unsweetened coconut milk generally contains approximately 4 grams of fat, with 3.5 grams being saturated fat, along with about 45 calories.
However, the dietitian does advise against excessive consumption of coconut milk.
Despite its higher fat content, there are notable benefits to incorporating coconut milk into one's diet. It serves as an excellent plant-based alternative, particularly for individuals following a vegan lifestyle or those who avoid animal products.
