Ever wondered why men take so long in the toilet? Is it just their bowel movement or some other psychological reason? Yes we have the answer and it turns out it's not the bowel movement, it is rather 'them'.
Factually speaking, men might be actually quicker than women in discharging their defecatory duties. According to a 2009 study, women are more likely to experience abnormal bowel habits and constipation than men. So, technically, women should be the ones spending more time in the loo.
A UK-based survey suggests that men spend an average of 1 hour and 35 minutes on the commode each week, whereas, women spend just 55 minutes.
In the research, it was also revealed that men who are spending much time in the bathroom are doing more than the obvious. The study says that around 86% of men read, watch videos on the toilet, and also tend to escape parenting duties while doing so.
Jonathan Alpert, a psychotherapist based in New York said that men see their toilet time as their 'me time' and it serves as their sanctuary and the only place they can actually have their much-needed alone time.
