Maha Shivratri is a prominent Hindu festival and this year it will be celebrated on 1 March 2022.
According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place on Maha Shivratri. Therefore, fasting on this day is considered to be fruitful. Devotees also offer milk and Belpatra to Lord Shiva.
Although Shivratri is celebrated every month throughout the year, Maha Shivratri is celebrated only once a year. It takes place in the month of Falgun which has a special significance.
The Nishith Kaal Puja Muhurat of Maha Shivratri is from 12:08 AM to 12:58 AM on March 1 and the fast-breaking time is after 6.45 AM on March 2.
