Holi is almost here and the preparations are in full swing across India. While some are hosting parties for their friends and family others are travelling with their loved ones.

If you are celebrating holi and are planning to play with colours but are worried about how it can affect your hair, we are here to help. Holi colours can damage your hair and make them brittle. Here are few ways to get rid of holi colour from your hair.

How to protect your hair from Holi colours

Deep condition your hair

Holi colours can make your hair brittle and dry. To avoid this, make sure to apply a leave-in conditioner or a hair serum to your hair before playing Holi. This will provide an extra layer of protection and make it easier to wash off the colors later.

Avoid Dry Colours

One should also be aware of the colours they are using to play Holi. Opt for organic or herbal colours instead of harsh chemical-based ones. Dry colors tend to be more damaging to your hair as they contain chemicals that strip away natural hair oil.

Oil your hair

The best way to protect your hair from damage is by applying coconut oil. Make sure to generously add oil before stepping out to play Holi. This will create a protective barrier between your hair and the colors, making it easier to wash off the colours later.

Tie your hair in a braid

Tie your hair in a bun, braid, or ponytail to minimise exposure to colors. This will also prevent tangling and breakage caused by the colors getting entangled in your hair.
