Maha Shivratri: devotees across India throng temples to offer prayers

Celebrating the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, devotees from across India thronged temples to offer their prayers.

In shiva temples across Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Delhi and Amritsar, people came dressed in their best to offer flowers to the Shiva Linga. In Varanasi, devotees also took a holy dip in the river.
