Maharashtra extends restrictions till June 1 to curb spread of Covid

The Maharashtra government on Thursday  extended the current restrictions put in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 cases. The restrictions will now be in place till 7 am on June 1, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte said in an order.

The government has made it mandatory to carry negative RT-PCR report for entering the state. This rule was earlier applicable only to the travellers coming in from the states marked as sensitive origin. The rule has been now been extended for people coming into the state from any part of the country.

Maharashtra reported 46,781 new cases and 816 deaths on Wednesday. The positivity rate has fallen to 17.36 per cent while the fatality rate is down to 1.49 per cent, the health department said.
