The writing was on the wall and it finally happened. Manchester United on Sunday sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their manager after an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Watford. The Red Devils failed to win a single trophy in nearly 3 years under Solskjaer.
Solskjaer signed a new three-year deal in July but had to leave after United suffered 5 defeats in their last 7 Premier League matches. The club in a statement said that Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United. "His place in the club’s history will always be secure, not just for his story as a player, but as a great man and a Manager who gave us many great moments" the statement added.
Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge as United seek to make an interim appointment until the end of the season.
