Maratha reservation discussed in Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray-PM Modi meet

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday reached Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Thackeray led a delegation that included deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and Congress leader Ashok Chavan.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Thackeray said, they discussed range of state issues with PM Modi, including Maratha and OBC reservation, GST compensation and classical language status for Marathi. Thackeray also said that the delegation requested PM Modi to change the NDRF norms for relief provided to people affected by natural calamity.

Chavan stressed on their request to PM Modi to intervene and remove the 50 per cent cap on the reservation. He added that as the Centre has been empowered to decide on the reservation to backward classes, it must take a call on it.
