According to a new study conducted by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, at least 200,000 Covid-19 related deaths can be prevented by the 1st of December, with the widespread use of masks and following social distancing measures.
The study also states that India may report 492,380 Covid-19 deaths by December 1 due to the easing of lockdown restrictions and the lesser use of masks.
The study reiterates the importance of complying with all the guidelines issued by the government to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Wearing a mask can reduce disease transmission by 40% for individuals and these masks that could be the simple cotton ones, the study added.
