McGregor beats Messi and Ronaldo to No.1 on Forbes rich list

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight double champion Conor McGregor topped the Forbes list for highest-paid athletes for the first time ever on Wednesday.

McGregor earned 180 million US dollars this year, 158 million US dollars of which was made out of the ring, which landed the Irishman in the Forbes top 10 for the second time.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi, who ranks second on this year's list, sets a record for the highest-earning soccer player after bringing home 130 million US dollars over the last year, while Cristiano Ronaldo moves to number three this year, as the Juventus forward brought home 120 million US dollars.
