Mirabai Chanu made India proud on the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics, as the weightlifter from Manipur overcame her Rio heartbreak to win a silver medal in the women’s 49kg event on Saturday.

The 26-year-old became only the 2nd Indian weightlifter ever after Karnam Malleswari to win an Olympic medal. Moreover, Mirabai joined PV Sindhu as India's only female Olympic silver medallists.

Her best in Snatch was 87 kg but her 115 kg in Clean & Jerk is now the new Olympic record. She ended with a combined weight of 202kg.
