Barbara Jabarica, in an exclusive interview to ANI categorically denied being romantically involved with fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi. In earlier interviews she had revealed that Choksoi flirted with her when they met last year and had gifted her diamonds which she later found were fake.
She however admitted meeting Choksi for breakfast the day he was allegedly kidnapped from Antigoa but said she left for the airport and was on the other side of the island on that day.
Choksi has been charged with illegal entry by the police in Dominica after he allegedly escaped from Antigua and Barbuda in a possible attempt to evade extradition to India.

Choksi's plan to escape to Cuba was also revealed by his alleged girlfriend. Barbara said that Choksi had told her that they would meet in Cuba next time. She also said though he did not use words like escape or shared his plans, he gave enough hints for her to conclude that there was ‘something he was planning for a later stage’
Choksi has alleged that Barbara did not attempt to help him while he was being beaten up and placed on a small watercraft while being kidnapped. He said the manner in which she conducted herself clearly pointed out that ‘she was an integral part of this entire scheme ‘
Choksi and his lawyers have filed a complaint against Barbara for abduction and torture. They have also accused her of conniving with Indian origin men. She has rejected the allegations of any such connections.
