Mehul Choksi seen wounded in photos from Dominica police custody

Fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi was seen wounded in photos that were surfaced by his lawyers from the custody of Dominica police on Saturday.

Choksi was captured in Dominica trying to escape, earlier this week. He went missing from the Caribbean nation of Antigua on Sunday. The photos, released by Chowksi’s lawyer to media, show him behind bars, his eye swollen and arm severely bruised.

The fugitive diamantaire’s lawyers have alleged that he was forcefully picked up from Antigua’s Jolly Harbour and taken to Dominica, where he may have been “tortured".

Choksi faces multiple charges of embezzling funds, to the tune of ₹13,000 crore from the state-owned Punjab National Bank in India.
