Microplastics have been found in the placenta of unborn babies, becoming a matter of concern for researchers. According to a new study published in the journal Environment International, experts believe these microplastics could damage the foetus's developing immune system. It seems like most of the plastics came from packaging, cosmetic products, paints and personal care products. Scientists will further assess the impact of these microplastics on the body. The study was conducted at the San Giovanni Calibita Fatebenefratelli hospital in Rome.
