Following the viral video of a couple getting married mid-air on a chartered SpiceJet flight the aviation regulator has launched investigation asking for a full report from the airline and airport authority.
Dakshina and Rakesh booked the chartered flight for their wedding ceremony, which flew to Bengaluru from Madurai. The couple reportedly tied the knot when the plane crossed the historic Meenakshi Amman temple in the Tamil Nadu city. The mid-air marriage was attended by around 160 people on board and the attendees openly violating Covid-19 protocols. Nobody was seen wearing masks or maintaining distance.
SpiceJet issued a statement saying they were unaware of the marriage ceremony and the Boeing 737 was chartered by a travel agent for a joy ride post their wedding. The airline was also stated that "The client was clearly briefed on Covid guidelines to be followed and denied permission for any activity to be performed on board and Despite repeated requests and reminders the passengers did not follow Covid guidelines and the airline is taking appropriate action as per rules."
