Motera cricket ground renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the newly reconstructed Motera cricket ground in Ahmedabad and renamed it after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with the President, Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju & Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani were also present at Motera stadium which was reconstructed at a cost of ₹800 crore.

The world's largest cricket stadium is being promoted as the Sports Capital of the world and many former sports persons were present at the inauguration.

The 1,32,000 capacity facility will only get to host 50% fans due to the Covid-19 restrictions as India hosts England in the 3rd Test which will be a day-night affair.
