The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Sunday advised Mumbai residents to boil water before drinking as heavy showers have hit the city’s water purification complex.

The electrical equipment that controls the pumping and filtration process at Bhandup complex, one of the major sites of supply to most parts of the city, has been affected by flooding.

BMC advised that the filtration process will take some time to be up and running and the best precaution for the citizens would be to boil water before drinking.

25 people died due to houses collapsing after landslides due to the incessant showers in the financial capital. Heavy rain also impacted the local train services and caused severe water logging.
