Mumbai rain: streets waterlogged, train services hit, buses diverted

Heavy rain brought Mumbai and neighbouring areas to a standstill on Friday as roads were waterlogged and train and bus services were hit.

News agency ANI posted a video of heavy rainfall in Wadala, as commuters waded through waterlogged roads. Due to heavy rain, trains are also running slow.

Videos online show commuters walking on railway track in Sion after heavy rain in the area. Buses have also been diverted on some routes, including Andheri, Chembur, among others.

Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Palghar and other neighbouring regions have been receiving heavy rainfall since morning.

The Met department had issued an orange alert for Mumbai and Thane, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places and a red alert for Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur and Satara districts.
