Elon Musk is trolling on Twitter and is targeting Bernie Sanders. The world's richest man took a jibe at Sanders, 80, who wrote: 'We must demand that the extremely wealthy pay their fair share. Period.' Musk promptly taunted back, 'I keep forgetting that you’re still alive.”
Worth over $300 billion Musk last week sold $7 billion worth of shares to pay tax dues. The CEO of Tesla tweeted “Want me to sell more stock, Bernie? Just say the word …”
Sanders did not immediately respond. Melissa Byrne, a progressive activist and former Sanders staffer, tweeted: “Folks, quit buying Tesla. Don’t reward abusive men.”
The Technoking of Tesla has been targeted for not paying his 'fair share' of taxes in the past. In October, Musk said Tesla would move its headquarters from California to Austin, Texas, a state which levies no income tax. According to recent reporting by ProPublica, Musk paid no federal income taxes in 2018, and his "true tax rate" between 2014 and 2018 was 3.27%.
