The Nagarjuna Besha of Lord Jagannath is all set to take place in Odisha's Puri after a gap of 26 years.

The celebrations on Friday are expected to be subdued in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, and will be performed in the presence of temple officials and servitors only.

Besha, it is believed,  is celebrated to commemorate the killing of KartyaveraArjuna. To mark the occasion, deities are dress up like warriors.

The administration of Puri imposed Section 144 of the CrPc in parts of the city on Thursday to prevent gathering of crowds around the temple.
