Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who recent video message to those celebrating Taliban victory created a controversy, has spoken up about how a few big Indian filmmakers and actors are being “encouraged” to make “pro-establishment” films.

In an interview to NDTV, Shah said that filmmakers are being encouraged to do "propaganda films" that suit the government's 'jingoistic agenda".

Drawing parallels with Nazi Germany, Shah said that there also big filmmakers were "rounded up and asked to make films propagating the Nazi philosophy".

Talking about why the “three Khans” chose to stay silent, Naseeruddin said while he cannot speak for them, he can imagine the extent of harassment they will be subjected to.

Talking about his own experience and that of noted lyricist Javed Akhtar, Shah said that anyone who dares to speak out is subjected to harassment.
