US television network NBC has dropped its broadcast of the Golden Globes ceremony in 2022.

The decision comes after months of criticism of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for a lack of diversity among its members, as well as ethical lapses.

The network said they are hopeful to air the show in January 2023 assuming the organization ‘executes on its plan'.

Meanwhile, Hollywood star Tom Cruise has joined the revolt led by streaming platforms and studios, as the actor has reportedly returned the three Golden Globe statuettes he won for his roles in ‘Jerry Maguire’, ‘Magnolia’ and ‘Born on the Fourth of July’ as mark of solidarity.
