Close to 600 doctors have lost their lives in the ravaging 2nd wave of Covid-19, the Indian Medical Association said on Saturday.

Giving a state-wise break up of 594 doctors' deaths, the IMA said that at least 107 doctors in Delhi, 96 in Bihar, and 67 in Uttar Pradesh have succumbed to the viral infection.

As per IMA's data, 748 doctors died due to the virus in its first wave.
The IMA has also raised its voice against attacks on doctors, healthcare staff, and hospitals.

While IMA only keeps a record of its 3.5 lakh members, India has over 12 lakh doctors.
