While holding a meeting with chief ministers of 7 states that have the highest Covid-19 case load in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there are over 700 districts in India but only 60 districts in 7 states are reporting worrying numbers. He suggested that the chief ministers of these states hold virtual conferences with district-level officials for 7 days and directly seek reports from them. He also asked the chief ministers to adopt best practices from other states. These 7 states are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Punjab and Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister said even though number of recoveries was rising in the country it was important to increase focus on effective testing, tracing and treatment.
