New IPL Franchise from Lucknow appoint Gautam Gambhir as its mentor

Two-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the mentor of the new IPL Franchise from Lucknow by owner Sanjiv Goenka of the RPSG Group on Saturday.

According to reports, an elated Gambhir is looking forward to the opportunity and the challenge. It will be his return to the IPL setup. After leading KKR to 2 IPL titles in 2012 and 2014, Gambhir retired after playing his last season for the Delhi franchise in 2018.

In fact, he stepped down as their skipper after Delhi lost 5 of its first 6 games. In 2019, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and won election to the Lok Sabha from East Delhi

The Lucknow franchise had earlier appointed former English coach and Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower as its head coach
