China's foreign ministry said on Monday that it had no information about the reported kidnapping of five Arunachal Pradesh residents by the Peoples Liberation Army. The foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian was asked about the Indian army's hotline message to the PLA on Sunday over five missing Arunachal youths to which he said he had no information about the case and reiterated China's position that it does not recognise the contested Arunachal Pradesh region. After local media reported that five youths were 'abducted' when they were on a hunting trip near the Sino-India border by the Chinese army, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday had said the Indian Army had sent a hotline message to the establishment of PLA and a response was awaited.
