Ghaziabad assault video: UP cops say no to video call, summon Twitter India head on Thursday

Rejecting Twitter India chief's offer to appear for questioning via a video call, the UP Police has summoned him on Thursday in the Ghaziabad assault video case.

Twitter India Managing Director Manish Maheshwari had on Monday sought to appear via video call saying he "does not deal with the case directly".

Last week, a case filed against Twitter over an video of an alleged assault on an elderly Muslim man. The FIR accused Twitter and some journalists og giving a communal twist to the incident.

The police have also asked Twitter India's Resident Grievance Officer Dharmendra Chatur to report to them on Thursday.

This is the first time a case has been filed against the social media giant after the Centre's new rules for online news publishing platforms came into effect.
