With less than 2 months to the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, the capital city of Japan braces for a tough time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the number of new cases reducing, the state of emergency imposed on Tokyo and its suburbs is likely to be extended up to June 20th which barely leaves a month before the opening ceremony on 23rd July. While the numbers are reducing, the medical authorities in Japan are facing the monumental task of handling critical care patients. Most residents in Tokyo over the last few months have actively advocated for cancelling the Summer Olympics as they along with govt authorities fear that the cases will rise once again when athletes from across the world come to Tokyo.
