On News Guru | Derek O'Brien: Unsafe to hold 8-phase poll in a pandemic

Amid spiralling Covid-19 cases in the country, questions are being raised about massive political rallies in poll-bound states, where people are gathering in large numbers without masks and in violation of Covid-19 protocols. 

Speaking to Vikram Chandra on News Guru, TMC's parliamentary party leader in the Rajya Sabha, Derek O'Brien says, it is unsafe to hold an 8-phase election in the middle of a pandemic, he added that Home Minister Amit Shah showering rose petals in a tiny alley where thousands have gathered is irresponsible. However, the final decision lies with the EC and the TMC will play by the rules and follow the guidelines laid down by the High Court.
