Oppo has announced ColorOS 12, the next version of their operating system which will be based on Android 12.
Highlights of the update include a redesign which Oppo says is more inclusive and sleek, and will let users do the things they want to do quicker. Optimisation has allowed Oppo to reduce system ageing by a claimed 2.75%, leading to 30% lower memory occupation and 20% lower battery consumption.
The update also comes with Android 12’s privacy dashboard, along with Oppo’s Private System, Private Safe, and App Lock features.

Oppo has also included an Omoji feature, which much like Apple’s Memoji creates a stylised render of your face that can reflect your movements and expressions in real time. Oppo says their new face capture algorithm uses 77 pinpoints and 200+ stylistic elements to reflect your face accurately.
The new PC Connect feature was also shown off, which is a software for Windows which let users keep their devices in sync. Users can keep a shared clipboard between their phone and PC, or even mirror notifications. File transfer between phone and PC can be done wirelessly with a simple drag and drop.

In India, the ColorOS 12 update will begin rolling out in November, when the Reno6 5G and Reno6 Pro 5G will get the update. The Oppo Reno5 Pro and F19 Pro+ will get the update in December.
Other phones like the Oppo Reno4 Pro, Reno3 Pro, and F19 Pro will get the update in the first half of 2022. Phones like the Oppo F19 and Oppo A53 will have to wait until the second half of 2022 for the ColorOS 12 update.
