Pakistan army violated ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu on more than 3,000 occasion in eight months this year, the government told Parliament this week. 3,186 ceasefire violations is the highest number in a year for 17 years - since the 2003 Ceasefire Agreement was brokered by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In addition, there were also 242 incidents of cross-border firing between January and August in the Jammu region, along the international border with Pakistan. The govt informed that 8 soldiers and a number of civilians were killed in Pakistani firing.
