Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the 1971 India-Pakistan war proves that the partition of India along religious lines was a 'historic mistake'.

The minister made the statement at the inauguration of “Swarnim Vijay Parv” at India Gate in the national capital, marking 50 years of India’s victory in the 1971 war.
