Harley-Davidson's electric brand LiveWire has unveiled its second electric offering in the US and this is the S2 Del Mar LE. The all-new offering is the brand's most affordable yet. However, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar has a limited production run of just 100 units and all examples were pre-booked within 18 minutes after the reservation window went live.
The new S2 Del Mar is based on the Arrow architecture that combines the battery pack, electronics systems, and motor into one single component, which also serves as the chassis for the motorcycle. The design language is distinctly Harley albeit in a futuristic way. Power comes from the 21,700-format cells, while the belt-drive motor produces about 79 bhp of power.
LiveWire says 0-100 kmph comes up in 3.5 seconds with a range of 160 km on a single charge under city riding conditions. Owners get to choose from four riding modes and the bike will get over-the-air software updates. Deliveries for the S2 Del Mar will begin by mid-2023 in the US.
Meanwhile, LiveWire is working on a more affordable S3 electric motorcycle that will come with a smaller motor and range.
