The World Car Awards 2022 has announced its nominations for the prestigious Person of the Year Award. And Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles unit is one of the five candidates in contention for the honour. Shailesh Chandra has been at the helm of the passenger vehicle business at Tata Motors in a year that has proven to be the most challenging. However, it was also the period when the automaker showed a remarkable turnaround in its sales and market share. The company has also fired up all engines when it comes to future product development, especially in the electric mobility space. Chandra has been the force behind the company's electric plans for India which has seen two of its most accessible electric cars coming from Tata Motors. Chandra is the second Indian to have been selected for the World Car Person of the Year award. Previously, former Tata head of design, Pratap Bose was nominated for the same award in 2021. Apart from Chandra, the World Car jurors have selected Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President for Design and Chief Creative Officer, at the Hyundai Group. Next up is Linda Zhang. Chief Engineer for the Ford F-150. There’s also Tadge Juechter Executive Chief Engineer of the Corvette project. Lastly, the pair of James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin have been nominated this year, who are the creators and executive producers of the Netflix show, Formula 1: Drive to Survive.
