Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked: It's a rally and record that hurts! Petrol and diesel prices hiked for a seventh straight day by 30 & 35 paise respectively. This is longest stretch of hikes for the fuel prices which are now up over Rs 2 in just one week. Fuel continues to be mostly costly in Mumbai where diesel has crossed over the 100 mark a litre and petrol prices at the pump are at a record high at Rs 110/litre.

The surge in international oil prices ended a three-week hiatus in rates on September 28 for petrol and September 24 for diesel. Since then, diesel rates have gone up by Rs 4.15 paise per litre and petrol price has increased by Rs 3.00.

Crude has gained more than 60% this year as the roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines lifted movement curbs and, subsequently, oil demand.
