PM Modi chairs review meeting: 1,500 oxygen plants for over 4 lakh beds

PM Modi on Friday reviewed the progress in ramping up the availability of medical oxygen across the country. 1,500 oxygen plants are coming up across India that could support more than four lakh hospital beds, the PMO said in a statement.

At review meeting, PM Modi asked officials to ensure oxygen plants are functional at earliest to meet challenges ahead of a possible third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. He also asked officials to ensure training of hospital staff on operation, maintenance of oxygen plants.

Further, officials briefed PM Modi about the progress of the installation of Pressure Swing Adsorption Oxygen plants.

Acute shortage of medical oxygen had a devastating effect during the deadly seconde Covid wave, leading to thousands of deaths.
